We decided to work with two models, a customer model where we can determine how well we can forecast specific customers, and a terminal model where we can use the actual aggregated demand out of a terminal to generate an independent forecast for inventory replenishment specific to terminals. This approach has worked perfectly for us as we now have the ability to put together good financial forecasts with individual customer demands and price forecasting, in addition to having a robust terminal forecast for inventory replenishment that is informed by the customer model as well. We also have more visibility now on our open orders both by customer by month, and by terminal by week. This powerful tool is now integral to all of our supply chain processes.”
